Occupying a commanding position on the western shore of Lake Como in Mezzegra, Villa Venere is a grand 10-bedroom estate for up to 20 guests, set within a private lakefront park with direct water access. The villa looks out across the Golfo Venere towards the famous promontory of Villa Balbianello—a view that has drawn admirers to this stretch of the lake for centuries. Milan Malpensa Airport is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes by car, Como town around 40 minutes, and the celebrated village of Bellagio just 15 minutes by private boat or ferry.
This corner of Lake Como, known as the Tremezzina Riviera, is widely considered the most beautiful section of Italy's most famous lake. The days here unfold at a gentler pace: morning coffee on the terrace as the mist lifts off the water, a private boat across to Bellagio for lunch, an afternoon exploring the romantic gardens of Villa Carlotta or the film-set splendour of Villa Balbianello. The lake itself invites exploration by water—private boat charters can be arranged to discover hidden shoreline villages, secluded swimming spots, and waterfront trattorias accessible only by boat. For those drawn to the mountains, hiking trails wind through the hills above the lake, and the scenic Greenway walking path connects the historic villages of the western shore. Private drivers, in-villa wellness treatments, and excursions to Milan's fashion district and the design showrooms of Brianza can all be arranged.
Built in 1901 for an American Admiral, the villa was comprehensively reconstructed in 2005 and elegantly refurbished in 2019 as a gallery of 20th-century design. The interiors feature works by Lloyd Wright, Philip Johnson, and Mies van der Rohe alongside furniture from Cassina, Vitra, and Moroso—many pieces crafted in the nearby Brianza design district. Sculptures by the Iranian artist Bijan Bassiri are displayed throughout. The ground floor houses a fully equipped professional kitchen, two dining rooms, an indoor heated pool, a gym with changing facilities, and direct access to the gardens. The first floor opens onto a 250-square-metre terrace furnished with sofas and outdoor seating, with two interconnected living rooms offering satellite television and high-fidelity audio systems. A private lift connects all five floors of the residence.
Outside, the manicured park descends to the lake's edge, where a private mooring allows guests to arrive and depart by water. An outdoor swimming pool is set within the gardens, complete with a sun deck, and a shaded pergola provides the setting for al fresco dining. A tennis court, barbecue area, and dedicated wellness space are also available. A separate pool house overlooking the outdoor pool can accommodate additional guests, while a staff cottage houses the resident team with space for guests' own staff.
