In the heart of Taormina, steps from the Corso Umberto yet entirely hidden from its bustle, Villa Tauro unfolds across 1,000 square metres of living space and a further 1,000 square metres of gardens, terraces, and pool. Built at the end of the nineteenth century and once the residence of the Italian artist Corrado Cagli, the property has undergone careful restoration in recent years, preserving its historic character whilst introducing contemporary comforts. From the heated infinity pool, views extend across the bay to Mount Etna's snow-dusted peak.
The villa's position within Taormina's historic centre places guests within walking distance of the town's ancient Greek theatre—Sicily's second largest, carved into the hillside in the third century BC with Etna as its backdrop—as well as the boutiques, trattorias, and café-filled piazzas that have drawn travellers here for generations. The beaches of Mazzarò and Isola Bella lie below, reached by cable car, whilst excursions to Mount Etna, the Alcantara Gorges, and the baroque towns of the Val di Noto can be arranged. Catania airport is approximately fifty minutes by car.
The main villa spans three sea-facing levels, with elegant living and dining rooms featuring original details alongside fully equipped kitchen facilities. Large arched windows frame the coastal panorama, whilst the interiors reflect the property's artistic heritage. A separate 200-square-metre annex—originally the artist's atelier—offers independent accommodation with its own living space, kitchen, and two bedrooms, connected to the main property through the shared gardens. Air conditioning, satellite television, and Wi-Fi are provided throughout. Private parking accommodates three cars.
The outdoor spaces step down through planted terraces to the heated infinity pool and sundeck, with seating areas positioned to capture both morning light and evening sunsets over the bay.
