A family-owned Mediterranean villa set along the celebrated coastal road just outside Amalfi, Villa Ortensia accommodates 12 guests across 6 bedrooms with views stretching across the Gulf of Salerno. The property sits approximately 5 minutes from Amalfi's historic centre by car, with Ravello and Maiori each 20 minutes away, and Positano reachable within 30 minutes. Naples Capodichino Airport is around 1 hour 15 minutes by road; Rome Fiumicino lies approximately 4 hours distant.
The villa occupies a privileged position on the Costiera Amalfitana, where the Lattari Mountains tumble into waters that have drawn travellers for centuries—from Ravello's hilltop gardens, where Wagner found inspiration, to the medieval alleyways of Amalfi itself, once a powerful maritime republic. Guests can walk to Duoglio Beach in 10 minutes for a morning swim, or venture to the Emerald Grotto, where sunlight filters through an underwater cavity to create an otherworldly glow. The celebrated Path of the Gods hiking trail begins nearby, tracing ancient mule paths high above the coastline, whilst boat excursions to Capri and the Li Galli islands depart from Amalfi's harbour.
The interior unfolds across 2 levels, reached from the parking area via approximately 20 steps. A living room paved with handmade majolica tiles—decorated in a zodiac motif characteristic of the coast—accommodates 2 sofas, a flat-screen television, and an open fireplace, with French doors leading to a terrace overlooking the gardens and sea. The adjacent dining room seats 12 guests and connects to a well-equipped kitchen fitted with a 6-burner gas hob, electric oven, American-style refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, and microwave. A second smaller dining area provides additional seating for 4.
Terraced gardens cascade across multiple levels, shaded by bougainvillea pergolas and Mediterranean planting. The swimming pool measures 7 by 4.5 metres with depths ranging from 1.2 to 2.2 metres, features a whirlpool corner, and is surrounded by a terracotta solarium with sun loungers, outdoor showers, and a half bathroom—open from May through October. A stone wood-fired pizza oven and barbecue allow for outdoor cooking, whilst a fitness room equipped with exercise bikes, cross trainer, treadmill, and rowing machine is accessible from the garden. The property includes a vegetable garden for guests' use, and private parking accommodates 4 medium-sized cars or 2 vans. A private chef, cooking and pizza classes, wine tastings, and excursions to the Path of the Gods, Pompeii, and Capri can be arranged; a complimentary walking tour of Amalfi led by the house manager is included, along with exclusive access to the seaside lido at Lido Azzurro, the family's renowned restaurant in Amalfi
