Villa Melograno is a restored 18th-century brick kiln set on a hillside outside San Gimignano, with views across the towers of the medieval town and the rolling vineyards and olive groves of the surrounding Tuscan landscape. The property accommodates 12 guests across 6 bedrooms on 2 floors, within a 400-square-metre building that has been carefully restored using high-quality materials — including Carrara marble in the kitchen and reclaimed local brick throughout. Florence, Siena, and Pisa are all within comfortable reach by car, as are the Chianti vineyards, Volterra, and the medieval towns of the Val d'Elsa.
San Gimignano's towers — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — are visible from the villa's terrace and a short drive away, giving guests the option of arriving in the town for an evening passeggiata or a morning visit before the crowds gather. The wider area rewards exploration in any direction: Siena and its Piazza del Campo, the alabaster workshops of Volterra, the crystal-making town of Colle di Val d'Elsa, the walled village of Monteriggioni, and the vineyards of Chianti are all within easy reach, whilst Florence offers a full day of museums and galleries for those who want the city. A car is recommended for getting the most out of the area.
The ground floor centres on a kitchen finished in Carrara marble and equipped to a professional standard — with a combination oven, American-style fridge-freezer with ice maker, double wine cooler, dishwasher, and slicer — opening into a dining room with a fireplace and direct access to the garden. On the first floor, a large living room with a second fireplace and satellite television opens onto a panoramic terrace looking out over the Tuscan countryside; a fitness room with treadmill, exercise bike, and wall bars adjoins the living space, alongside a spa area comprising a Finnish sauna with chromotherapy, a multi-sensory shower, and a bathroom with bathtub. A laundry room with washer and dryer is also on this floor. Cooking classes and private chef dinners can be arranged at the villa, and on arrival guests are welcomed with a buffet of local produce and a selection of Chianti DOCG and Vernaccia di San Gimignano wines.
The infinity pool is constructed entirely from local travertine stone and features an integrated plunge with whirlpool jets, set within a garden with views across the Tuscan hills. A large loggia with a solid wood dining table and sofas provides the main outdoor living space, with a masonry barbecue alongside for outdoor cooking. A recreation area with table tennis and table football, a bocce court, and a football field complete the outdoor facilities. Parking is available on site.
