Villa I Busini is an Early Renaissance estate dating to 1423, set within a 7-acre park enclosed by its original 15th-century stone wall on the hills of Chianti, around 50 minutes from Florence by car. The property accommodates guests across a villa of exceptional historic character, with a dedicated staff including a chef, butlers, and housekeeping throughout the stay. Florence Airport is around 50 minutes away.
The estate sits in the heart of the Chianti wine country, where the harvest season brings the surrounding vineyards to life and the landscape of cypress rows, olive groves, and stone villages takes on its most vivid character. Florence, with its galleries, markets, and Renaissance architecture, is within easy reach for a day trip; Siena, whose shell-shaped Piazza del Campo and striped Duomo reward a full day, is under an hour to the south. Lucca, Pisa, and the Etruscan hill town of Volterra are all within comfortable driving distance, and the Chianti villages — Greve, Panzano, Radda — are close enough for a morning's exploration followed by a long lunch.
The villa preserves 600 years of history with exceptional integrity: hand-painted walls, 17 working fireplaces, and reclaimed period floors run throughout the principal rooms, which include 5 elegant salons, 2 dining rooms, a chapel, and a library. The interiors are furnished with a combination of original craftsmanship and contemporary comfort, and dramatic artworks celebrating the medieval period are displayed throughout the property. Complimentary tea, coffee, soft drinks, and water are provided, and meals are prepared by the resident chef with elaborate table settings and fresh flowers as standard.
The 7-acre park is enclosed by the original stone wall and planted with an Italian-style garden, a forest, vineyards, and olive groves, with panoramic views across the Tuscan hills in every direction. An infinity pool — heatable — sits adjacent to a former Limonaia, which can be arranged for private events of up to 20 guests indoors, with additional capacity outdoors; a garden temple provides a setting for ceremonies or quiet reflection. A tennis court and bocce court complete the outdoor facilities. The Limonaia has been used for intimate celebrations including weddings and vow renewals.
Please note that the pool heating and air conditioning systems cannot operate simultaneously — guests are asked to decide in advance which they would prefer.
