Three kilometres from Siena's medieval centre, a late eighteenth-century farmhouse and its brick hay barn rise from the olive groves of a working agricultural estate. Villa Belcaro—historically part of the nearby Castello di Belcaro—was completely restored in 2024 using bio-architecture principles: natural clay pigments colour the interior walls, whilst insulation and finishes contain no artificial ingredients. From its hilltop position, the property commands views across the estate's silvery olive trees to the old town skyline, where the Torre del Mangia and cathedral bell tower punctuate the horizon.
Siena itself lies ten minutes by car, with Piazza del Campo, the Duomo, and the city's warren of contrade neighbourhoods all within easy reach. The estate produces its own IGP Toscano and DOP Terre di Siena extra virgin olive oil, available for guests to taste. Florence is under ninety minutes distant, whilst the Chianti wine routes, San Gimignano, and the thermal baths of the region provide ample opportunity for exploration. The Palio, Siena's legendary bareback horse race, transforms the city twice each summer—the villa's proximity makes it an ideal base for witnessing the pageantry.
The main house spans two levels, with an entrance reading area giving way to an elegant living room furnished with designer sofas and a traditional Tuscan stone fireplace. A long wooden table seats up to fourteen for convivial dinners. The first floor holds four bedrooms, each individually styled, with ensuite bathrooms. A loggia with twin arched windows offers a quiet spot for contemplation. The adjacent annex—a converted brick barn with panoramic windows—contains a sun-filled dining room overlooking the countryside and Siena's skyline, a kitchenette, and an upper-floor suite. Air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and modern amenities are present throughout both buildings.
The grounds descend from a private parking area through a farmyard garden furnished with sofas and armchairs for aperitivi, past an old brick well, to a fifteen-metre infinity pool surrounded by olive trees. A large outdoor dining table accommodates the full party, whilst a barbecue stands ready for summer grilling. À la carte breakfast can be arranged, featuring local and estate products.
