Masseria Virgilio rises from the Salento countryside just beyond Lecce's baroque centre, where centuries of agricultural tradition have shaped the land into ordered groves of ancient olive trees. The estate occupies a restored masseria—a fortified farmhouse typical of Puglia's rural architecture—that accommodates 12 guests within its thick stone walls and vaulted ceilings, preserving the character of southern Italian farm life whilst offering the comforts expected of contemporary luxury accommodation.
Lecce's limestone streets and elaborate churches lie just 2 minutes away by car, whilst both the Adriatic and Ionian coastlines bracket the property at ten and 20 minutes respectively. The regional airports at Brindisi and Bari provide access at 35 and 90 minutes. From this central Salento position, the historic coastal towns of Otranto and Gallipoli, the region's traditional olive mills, and the UNESCO-recognized trulli architecture of the Valle d'Itria all fall within comfortable reach for day excursions across the peninsula.
The masseria's living spaces are distributed across multiple rooms that maintain the building's original proportions—high barrel-vaulted ceilings in pale stone, arched doorways, and floors laid in traditional cementine tiles. Three separate kitchens equipped for serious cooking accommodate the villa's full-time chef service and provide space for guests interested in Puglian culinary traditions. Two distinct living areas offer options for gathering or retreat, one featuring a working fireplace set within the masseria's historic stonework. The interiors balance period architectural elements with contemporary furnishings—mid-century seating, sculptural lighting, patterned textiles that echo the building's original decorative details without overwhelming them.
The grounds extend across maintained lawns punctuated by established olive trees and Mediterranean plantings. An outdoor swimming pool occupies a central position within the garden, its rectangular form bordered by pale stone paving and furnished with sunbeds. The covered outdoor dining area includes an integrated barbecue and wood-fired pizza oven built in traditional Puglian style. A separate heated indoor pool provides year-round swimming within one of the property's vaulted stone chambers.
