Masseria Alberobello is a traditional Puglian country property 4 kilometres outside the UNESCO World Heritage Site town of Alberobello, set among 300 olive trees on the rolling hills of the Valle d'Itria. The property is spread across 11 trulli and a lamia — the distinctive conical and flat-roofed stone structures of this corner of Puglia — and accommodates 10 guests across 5 bedrooms. Bari Airport is approximately 1 hour 10 minutes away, and the nearest restaurants and shops are 8 minutes by car.
The Valle d'Itria offers a particular quality of Puglian life — quieter and more rural than the coast, with a landscape shaped by centuries-old olive groves, dry-stone walls, and the trulli cones that punctuate the hills in every direction. Alberobello, around 5 minutes by car, is the most visited of the trulli towns, its UNESCO-protected Rione Monti and Aia Piccola districts still inhabited as they have been for centuries; Locorotondo, Cisternino, and Martina Franca are each within 10 to 20 minutes for an afternoon of circular streets, local butchers serving Cisternino's famous bombette, and baroque architecture. The beaches of Monopoli and Polignano a Mare are within 40 minutes to the east, and Ostuni — its whitewashed old town visible from miles around — is 45 minutes in the opposite direction.
The accommodation is arranged across the interconnected trulli and lamia, where whitewashed walls, stone-flagged floors, and the characteristic low archways linking each conical cone create a sequence of intimate spaces with a light and airy feel throughout. The living area opens from a cosy sitting and dining space into a small utility kitchen; the property's main kitchen and dining room are accessed directly from the garden, connecting seamlessly with the outdoor dining and cooking areas. The master suite is the property's most expansive room, spreading across 4 trulli cones linked by arches, with its own access to the main terrace alongside the pool. A separate roof terrace above provides a panoramic vantage point over the olive groves, the rolling Valle d'Itria countryside, and the trulli silhouette of Alberobello in the distance.
The large stone-paved terrace is the heart of the property's outdoor life — furnished with a variety of seating and dining areas, shaded by a pergola, and with the heated swimming pool just steps away. An outdoor kitchen and barbecue provide the setting for long alfresco lunches and evenings gathered around the grill, with vegetables from the property's own garden available to guests. Sun loungers surround the pool, and a fire pit provides a focal point for cooler evenings. Private parking is available on site. Housekeeping 5 days per week is included; chef service can be arranged.
